As Founder and Managing Director of The Yacht Professionals, Hayden Thomas leads one of the most professional Superyacht Consultancy’s in Australia. The Yacht Professionals provide Design, Engineering and Naval Architecture consulting and advisory services to Owners, Shipyards, and Designers around the globe.
Since 1999, Hayden has had a distinguished career delivering large and complex Yacht projects to clients. He has held Senior Design positions in Superyacht Shipyards and Superyacht Design Studios such as Silver Yachts and RWD providing him with a deep and well rounded knowledge of the industry. With a hands-on foundation as a cabinetmaker in the Manufacturing of Superyachts, Hayden possesses a unique skill set ranging from Manufacturing Optimisation and Production Design to Concept Development and Client representation with a strong understanding of Class and Flag requirements.
Hayden received a BA in Industrial Design from Queensland University of Technology and is registered as an Accredited DesignerTM with the Design Institute of Australia.
Head of Naval Architecture
With 20 years experience as an Industry leading Naval Architect, Nicholas Stark provides a wealth of knowledge, leadership and skills to all aspects of marine design, including high speed, lightweight design of yachts, ferries and patrol craft.
His focus on Optimisation of Hull Design, Stability and Structures for Lightweight Vessels ensures the reduction of manufacturing cost and time while also minimising the operating cost and environmental impacts of the vessel. The minimising of fuel burn and wave making as well as maximum flexibility in terms for cruising grounds and re-positioning speeds has been central to his design ethos.
Nicholas is highly skilled in all technical aspects of Naval Architecture including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Tank Testing, Stability Analysis and reporting. He also maintains a strong understanding and ability in concept design, design visualisation, class and flag rules and compliance, as well as Vessel performance evaluations.
Nicholas received an Honours degree in Naval Architecture from the University New South Wales, Sydney with a High distinction for his Thesis in surfacing software for Hull Design.
